There is a good chance if you’re reading this, that you are doing or have done a gut health program to help aid in either weight loss or other health conditions. Mounting research shows that restoring your gut health is always the first step to getting better, but how do you know when your gut has healed?
Restoring your digestive health takes a lot of commitment, so it’s only natural to want to know that your hard work is paying off. Here are a few good indicators you are on the right track.
1. Digestive issues disappear
For many people, gas, bloating, heartburn or acid reflex, diarrhoea and constipation are the first signs your gut health is out of balance. When you have reset, repaired and rebalanced your digestive health – these symptoms should begin to dissipate.
2. Your weight stabilises
Gaining or losing weight without making changes to your diet or exercise habits may be a sign of an unhealthy gut. An imbalanced gut can impair your body’s ability to absorb nutrients, regulate blood sugar, and store fat. When you reach your goal weight and start to see steady numbers on the scale, it is a good indication your gut flora is in balance.
3. You no longer need 5 coffees to get through the day
If you’ve been on our program, you would know that an unhealthy gut may contribute to poor sleep patterns. The majority of the body’s serotonin, a hormone that affects mood and sleep, is produced in the gut, so when you no longer feel like you’ve been hit by a train hen you wake up in the morning, or suffer from three-thirtyitis your gut may well be repaired.
4. Your skin clears up
Once of the most common complaints we see in people with poor digestive health is skin irritations. Whether it’s eczema, rosacea, dandruff, rashes, or even acne, most skin issues are an outward manifestation of an internal problem in the gut. That’s why, once your gut begins to repair, you will likely see your skin issues begin to subside as well.
4. You’ve returned to your optimal self
The best indication that the gut health program you are following is working is when your energy and vitality have returned, you’ve regained mental clarity, your mood has improved, you’ve returned to your ideal weight, and you feel like your best self.
